Obviously I'm discussing this in terms of one interview with the male star of the film, but presuming what he says is accurate, this feels like Lionsgates' The Expendables 3 all over again. Grey's private parts as the MPAA will allow? Is there anyone in the would-be audience for this film that wouldn't want to see the on-page erotic encounters detailed onscreen as explicitly as the MPAA will allow? Is there anyone out there who otherwise might want to see Fifty Shades of Grey who might decide against it because the film might have male nudity and/or exceptionally graphic sexual situations? And conversely is there anyone out there that might be on the fence about seeing Fifty Shades of Grey or opposed to the picture on artistic or moral grounds but will now be more interested due to a lack of Christian Grey's onscreen "todger" and/or a toning down of the sexual content? Fifty Shades of Grey may be diluting itself and depriving the fans of the very things they came to see in an attempt to capture an audience (basically anyone who isn't a fan of the book) who isn't necessarily going to want to see the film anyway. Is there anyone in the would-be audience for this film, those who aren't being dragged along halfheartedly at least, that wouldn't want to see as much of Mr. I can't imagine anyone walking into the theater unaware of what they paid for and/or being grossed out by a faithful adaptation. Dornan speaks of exactly? The film in question is, once again, an incredibly well-known erotic (presumably R-rated) drama about a couple that engages in bondage and bondage-related sex acts. What is this would-be "wide an audience as possible" that Mr.

Anyway, what struck me about both the apparent lack of male nudity and/or overtly explicit sex in the film version of the BDSM-themed Twilight fan-fiction adventure, and the reasons given for the lack of said nudity, is that it seems to be a case of a film neutering itself for the sake of an audience that won't be interested anyway. This will not be much of a discussion about the MPAA and how they deal with violence versus sex, or male nudity versus female nudity. If she decides for whatever artistic reason to make one so tame that I can take my seven-year old to the press screening, that's her choice and her prerogative. Two relative disclaimers before we go any farther: Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has the right to make whatever kind of Fifty Shades of Grey movie she wants to make.

Christian Grey's bathing suit areas in the name of source fidelity, in the hopes of appealing to audiences who won't be seeing the film anyway. "You don’t want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic.” Without reading too much into one quote from the male lead, this is a situation where the filmmakers may be doing a disservice to the fans, who are likely expecting among other things a peak at Mr. "“You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out," states Mr. What's odd about this is the alleged reasoning behind it.

This is obviously bad news for fans who wanted to, let's be honest about this, see Jamie Dornan's private parts on a big movie screen, and it may be bad news for fans who wanted to see a sexually explicit big-screen adaptation of their favorite S&M novel. In short, there will allegedly be no full-frontal nudity of the male variety and the film's sexual content will be kept to a relative minimum. The portion of the interview that has caught the most attention is where he discussed the amount of sex and/or nudity that will be in the $40 million adaptation of E.L.

Jamie Dornan gave an interview to The Guardian that dropped online yesterday where he discussed his recent projects, among them the British serial killer television show The Fall (pro-tip: watch The Fall on Netflix and fall in love/admiration with Gillian Anderson all over again) and the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey that is opening next Valentine's Day courtesy of Universal (Comcast Corp.).

That might not be a recipe for box office success. The Fifty Shades of Grey movie will allegedly feature no male nudity and potentially less-then-expected amounts of explicit sex.
